It was 63 years ago when tens of thousands of Americans arrived in the nation's capital to fight for equal rights at the March on Washington. In remembrance of that historic rally, people from all walks of life gathered in Fort Myers at the Rally of Hope. WGCU Reporter Cary Barbor attended the gathering hosted by Floridians for Democracy.
See Jim Nathan and Sonya McCarter interviewed on WGCU about the Rally of Hope! The RALLY OF HOPE brings us together to reflect on democracy's enduring promise and the work still ahead. Inspiring voices will carry forward the moral tradition of the civil rights movement, as we focus on how courage, community, and the power of every voice can shape our future.
Every election season, Floridians hear the same reminders. Floridians for Democracy is providing education on what they may encounter at the ballot box this year.
